two Postdoctoral Researchers in Corporate environmental management, for a fixed-term period of four years, one starting on 1 March 2024 or thereafter upon agreement and second 1 July 2024.

The Postdoctoral researchers work in the area of environmental management of companies. The main focus of corporate environmental management is on the study of the responsibility and sustainability of companies and other organisations, and especially their environmental responsibilities.

The Corporate Environmental Management research group covers a wide range of sustainability transitions, circular and bioeconomy of companies and organisations, sustainable business models and strategies, sustainability communication, sustainability agency, sustainable production and consumption, stakeholder relations and material flow management.

Qualifications we are looking for 

The duties of postdoctoral researchers include research and publication activities, teaching, coordination and guidance tasks, and participation in applying for competitive external research funding. In addition, some teaching, coordination and supervision of theses are included. 

The applicants’ research profile is expected to match JSBE’s focus area, Sustainable Business. Applicants are required to have a doctoral degree in the field of corporate environmental management or responsible business. Degrees from other disciplines will only be considered if the applicant’s research and possible teaching experience show clear indications (e.g. scientific publications or teaching in the field of corporate environmental management) of expertise in responsible business conduct and sustainability transitions of companies and organizations.

Previous teaching experience in the field of corporate environmental management and experience in obtaining external research funding related to the position are considered an advantage for the applicants. We value high-quality publishing ability, experience in international research groups and interest in teaching and supervising theses and research work. Evidence of multidisciplinary understanding and research on sustainability transitions in organizations is also considered an advantage for the applicants. 

The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of a Postdoctoral Researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. Postdoctoral researchers are required to have a relevant doctoral degree, the ability for independent scholarly work and the teaching skills required for the position. According to Finnish law, a non-native university teaching and research staff member can be granted an exemption from the requirement of Finnish language proficiency. In this position, the Postdoctoral Researcher is expected to have excellent skills in English language. 

The duties of Postdoctoral Researcher are expected to be carried out in Jyväskylä.

Salary is based on level 5-6 of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research staff in the salary system of Finnish universities. The starting salary will be between 3350-4400 EUR/month depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. A trial period of six months will be used at the beginning of employment.
