Senior Research Officer (establishing and managing a new Biodiversity Discovery Facility), Australian National University, Australia

The Position
This is a key role in a friendly, motivated team establishing and managing a new Biodiversity Discovery Facility that uses emerging genomic, imaging and machine learning technology for species discovery and biodiversity monitoring. In collaboration with international and local researchers, the Senior Research Officer will establish laboratory protocols, test their application across systems and provide training to others.

The Person
We are looking for a highly organised, team player with sound knowledge of and demonstrated experience working in a laboratory environment, using quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, and collecting and analysing high volume, complex research data. Applicants with knowledge of high throughput sequencing, invertebrate taxonomy, imaging, bioinformatics or machine learning may be viewed favourably. The applicant will need to have a degree in a related discipline and demonstrated extensive relevant experience in a research or research support role.
