Position Description
The Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH) at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time Research Associate position with primary research interests in tuberculosis (TB) research, operational research and randomized controlled trial in Tibet, China. This position will provide research support for a Stop TB Partnership funded TB REACH grant. The Senior Research Associate will join a strong team of leaders and public health practitioners in tuberculosis research. The project will be based at the DLSPH but in close collaboration with public health agencies in China, the Philippines and Pakistan.
The objective of the study is to design and implement evidence-based interventions in China, Pakistan and the Philippines based on funded CIHR projects. The candidate will engage with the research through project management and scholarly participation and contributions to the project through activities including but not limited to: questionnaire design, data collection and analysis, intervention design and implementation, data management and quality assurance, and writing reports and academic publications.
The candidate will collaborate closely with the main partners in China, including public health agencies and universities, as well as partners in the Philippines and Pakistan. The candidate will participate in every aspect of the implementation science projects, including patient recruitment, implementation, quality control to dissemination. Furthermore, the candidate will assist in the organization of meetings, training sessions, and other materials used in the studies.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must 1) possess a PhD in public health or an acceptable equivalent; 2) have a minimum of 6 years field experience in a public health research or practice organization; 3) be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in oral and written English and Chinese ; 4) have a strong background in implementation science, and infectious disease (such as tuberculosis and antimicrobial resistance) related research, 5) proven leadership skills, and 6) be able to work independently as well as directly with team members and study collaborators.
In addition, the candidate must have: a strong publication record; demonstrated success in the writing and preparation of manuscripts, presentations, reports, briefs, and scientific abstracts and manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals; strong knowledge of implementation science and issues relating to infectious disease research; and, experience in coordinating and conducting field research in infectious disease research. The candidate will have skills in both quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
