POSITION PURPOSE
The Department of Emergency Medicine at Harborview Medical Center currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Full Time Research Study Assistant (RSA) (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv).

This RSA role provides a unique opportunity for individuals interested in the medical sciences to gain experience in the field of Emergency Medicine. This position will require the RSA to interact extensively in HMC Emergency Department, including physicians, nurses and patients. This is a high intensity role requiring sharp time management as well as sensitivity to complicated medical situations. This role will work under the general direction of the Principal Investigator and the Clinical Research Manager in the Department of Emergency Medicine with assistance from the research team at HMC.

This position is for a research assistant for an NIH-funded, randomized controlled trial designed to help individuals with opioid use disorder. Patients will be screened from the Emergency Department, and consented for The Emergency Department Longitudinal Integrated Care (ED-LINC) study. The overarching goal of this randomized trial is to test the effectiveness of the ED-LINC intervention when compared with usual care.  The study team hypothesizes that patients randomized to the ED-LINC intervention, when compared to patients randomized to usual care, will demonstrate: 1) significant reductions in self-report illicit opioid use, 2) significant increases in initiation and retention of medications for opioid use disorder, and 3) significant reductions in ED utilization. The RSA will primarily coordinate the day-to-day activities of the research study at Harborview Medical Center

Because this position will involve screening, tracking, and routine follow-up with individuals with opioid use disorder, it will require someone with experience with diverse patient populations with substance abuse and high social needs.

This position may also require the RSA to work evenings and weekends.
