About the Role
The Research Fellow position at the University of Melbourne’s school of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering is a dynamic opportunity to contribute to pioneering research in Advanced Biomaterials while cultivating global partnerships to enhance the university’s prominence in biomedical innovation. Reporting to Professor David Nisbet, you will be part of projects, supervise PhD students, and foster collaborative relationships to propel the institution’s position as a frontrunner in the field nationally and internationally. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertake internationally competitive research, resulting in publications in high impact journals.
  • Contribute to and publish academic papers and other scholarly outputs to a high academic standard in accordance with the research expectations of the University of Melbourne.
  • Actively participate in research seminars and conferences to disseminate research findings as opportunities arise.
  • Contribute to the preparation, or where appropriate, individual preparation of research proposal submissions to internal or external funding bodies as relevant.

Who We Are Looking For
You will actively engage with professional and industry bodies, fostering collaborative partnerships, while maintaining and cultivating new collaborations, including supervision of research students within collaborators’ laboratories. Additionally, you will contribute to the effective supervision of junior and postgraduate research students or projects, actively participating in research training initiatives.

You will also have:

  • Completion (or nearing) of a PhD in Biomedical Engineering or Nanotechnology, Synthetic Biology and Materials Science or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience in cell culture, protein engineering, and in vivo animal work. A demonstrated aptitude for research, with a sound publication record in relevant areas, commensurate with experience and opportunities. Demonstrated ability to prepare research reports and manuscripts for publication. Demonstrated ability to engage with relevant professional and industry bodies and stakeholders to foster collaborative partnerships.
