Based in the Faculty of Health, the School of Health Professions has something for everyone interested in health and care-related professions and is committed to shaping students into the best health professionals they can be.

We seek to appoint a Post Doctoral Research Fellow to work join a multi-disciplinary team of researchers in the School of Health Professions at the University of Plymouth. The research programme, led by Professor Mary Hickson, focuses on nutrition and ageing, malnutrition and nutritional support, and the development of dietetic roles in primary care. The research utilises both qualitative and quantitative methods and is informed by service user engagement. 

The role will involve both research and academic activities. You will be supporting teaching and marking, supervision of masters and undergraduate students, and organising and running meetings or events, as well as contributing to grant applications, managing and analysing data, writing papers and developing ideas for future grants. 

Applications are invited from highly motivated individuals with a PhD or equivalent within the field of nutrition and dietetics. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, ideally clinical research experience, and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The role will particularly suit someone with an interest in the nutritional care of older adults and those at risk of malnutrition and frailty, and who is passionate about developing the evidence base to advance practice in dietetics.

The role can be undertaken either in-person locally or from any geographical location which may include working from home.  The role is possible as a remote home working role, however, you will be required to travel periodically to the University for enrolment, collecting IT equipment, meetings and teaching.

The successful candidate may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to this research being undertaken.

This is a part-time position working 14.8 hours per week (0.4 FTE) on a fixed-term basis for 3 years due to funding.
