Your new role
As a Research Engineer, you will contribute as both a technical staff member and researcher in the Gold Technology Group, bringing together industry and academia to provide value for the gold industry and Curtin University.
This role involves contributing to hydrometallurgical and mineral processing research, plant surveys, ore characterisation and gold process models, as well as support of undergraduate and HDR students.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Contribute to laboratory test work programs, gold mine plant surveys and delivery of short courses in gold processing.
- Support investigations into recovery of gold from variable ores.
- Aid in the development and implementation of the team’s research activities.
- Participate in productive research projects with both internal and external collaborators, as measured by successful contributions to publications, grants, commercial service contracts and industry/government relationships.

- Qualification in Metallurgy/Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field (Chemical, Science, Chemistry or Geochemistry) and relevant experience or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and training with a Postgraduate Diploma (or master’s degree by course work) in Extractive Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
- High level practical experience in metallurgical processing of precious and base metals with substantial supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated experience in developing novel approaches to addressing metallurgical processing problems.
- High level practical knowledge of mineralogical and process characterisation.
- Ability to guide and mentor junior technical staff and assist research students.
