Job Description

This is what awaits you:   At the University of Bremen, our newly established research group (led by Prof. Dr. Hochgeschwender) is working on modern concepts, methods and tools for the development and operation of trustworthy, cognitive and collaborative robot systems. We consider the entire life cycle of cognitive robots and systems in real and simulated worlds. We develop model-based tools for the specification, synthesis and validation of robot control architectures, integrate hybrid learning methods into these architectures and evaluate these systems in the context of real-world benchmarks.

The area of ​​responsibility associated with the position essentially includes:

  • Technical conception and implementation of collaborative robot applications for industrial application scenarios with C, C++, Python and ROS
  • Establishment and management of an innovation laboratory in the field of cognitive robotics with the aim of accelerating the transfer of innovative collaborative and cognitive robot applications
  • Risk analysis of collaborative robot applications as well as conception and implementation of corresponding risk minimization mechanisms.  
  • Building and maintaining a software infrastructure for the development, operation and testing of collaborative robot systems taking into account modern software technologies (e.g., JSON-LD, RDF, WASM)
  • Supporting academic staff and students in the realization of projects
  • Conception and implementation of a concept for research data management taking into account national and international guidelines and best practices
  • Evaluation of software and hardware
  • Execution of procurements
  • Maintenance of working group websites

requirements

  • Completed technical/university studies (master/diploma) in computer science or a computer-related subject (e.g. robotics or autonomous systems) or an equivalent qualification
  • At least 3 years of professional experience
  • Experience in robot benchmarking (e.g. RoboCup)
  • Very good knowledge of implementing collaborative robot control architectures using C, C++ and ROS
  • Experience with technologies such as RDF, JSON-LD, WASM, ROS
  • Good knowledge of English (Level B1 CEF)
  • Initiative and organizational skills
  • Cooperative and service-oriented working style
