About the Role:
Applications are invited for a highly motivated and ambitious Post Doctoral Research Associate to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, led by Prof. Pete Walker in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Bath, UK.
You will be joining a significant research project that aims to co-design, test, implement and monitor innovative prototype bio-based lower carbon solutions to improve the energy efficiency and resilience of social housing constructed by councils between 1920-1940. The longer-term goal of the project is to create scalable and transferable designs and solutions to retrofit a greater number of houses and different house types. As well as delivering high quality research, you will be expected to develop strong and effective working relationships with project teams and partners and external stakeholders.
This a full-time position, initially for 19 months fixed term, and available from December 2023.

About you:
Our ideal candidate will have completed a PhD in a relevant built environment discipline, or closely related area. We are seeking candidates with experience and interests across the following areas:
- Building materials testing and development in collaboration with stakeholders;
- Hygrothermal and mechanical testing of prototype solutions;
- Element and whole-building performance evaluation;
- In-situ monitoring of energy performance and Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ);
- Life Cycle Analysis of solutions.
