 Research Associate / Academic Assistant
– PhD-candidate –
(all genders welcome)
in the research area Nutrition, Health, Sustainability
(Reference number AR23/2)
(TV-L E13, 65%)
 
The position is part of the newly formed research group “Enlightening frames of synergy for public health in the Anthropocene” lead by Antje Risius in collaboration with Brigit Toebes (University of Groningen) and is paid according to salary scale TVL-E13 (65%). The contract will be for an initial 36 months with a possible extension of 12 months following evaluation. 
 
Your tasks:

  • Plan and conduct innovative, inter- and transdisciplinary research on issues on sustainable economics, agricultural economics, institutional economics, planetary health, sustainable nutrition related to public health implementations and policy
  • Manage data collection, cooperation with partners, and presentation of research results
  • ideas and proposals for new research and manage research projects
  • research papers and articles in internationally visible journals

Your profile:

  • Outstanding completed university degree (Master, Diploma) or comparable university degree in the field of life sciences and related fields (focus: agricultural economics, institutional economics, public health policy, planetary health, sustainable economics, sustainable nutrition)
  • First success in academic publishing is an asset
  • with empirical/archive research methods and related statistical packages
  • Excellent oral and written English language and communications skills (German language skills would be a plus but are not required)
  • Very good computer skills as well as a conscientious approach to work, honesty, flexibility, ability to work in a team, ability to work under pressure
  • Transdisciplinary experience in outreach and extension (agriculture, nutrition and health promotion, cultural anthropology, art and humanities) and/or teaching methods welcome
  • Affinity and willingness to learn about the role of law, policy and human rights
  • Willingness to engage with the translation of research results to concrete law and policy findings, e.g. the definition of a set of guidelines or a proposal for an international treaty
