As a Research assistant, you will be working at the Multidimensional Research Group, at Medical Foundation Building for the School of Medical Sciences with senior Academic staff who all share a passion for the research that is being under taken. You will involved in the day-to-day running of the Neural Imaging and Neural Structure and Function laboratories that specialize in exploring the brain regions responsible for acute and chronic pain
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- support the design of research work being undertaken
- conduct data analysis, prepare reporting and presentations and carry out literature searches
- maintain research laboratory, oversee operations and student activity in the work area
- oversee daily operations of the research laboratory, providing technical support for affiliated researchers and postgraduate research students
- assist the development and submission of research publications for the work area
- undertake ad-hoc projects and other activities.
About you
- experience in a research-intensive environment
- bachelor degree in a relevant field
- working knowledge of software programs such as Concur, UniBuy, Records Management, and Content Management Systems
- experience in carrying out literacy searches and preparing literary reviews for further analysis
- experience working in a research laboratory, and expertise in one or more of the laboratory- based research methods to be employed: tissue dissection, cell and tissue culture, RNA isolation and qPCR, Western blotting
- you will be an excellent communicator both oral and written
- tertiary qualifications in a relevant field
- ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
