DescriptionWe seek highly creative and self-motivated postdoctoral fellow with expertise in molecular microbiology and multi-omics data analyses to join us in developing new approaches to study the spatial structure and function of oral biofilm microbiomes in health and disease. This work integrates advanced confocal microscopy, computational analysis and bioinformatics with experimental models to assess metagenome/transcriptome and virulence potential at community and single-cell level within spatially structured biofilms.

The selected candidate will join a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative group to solve fundamental questions about the dynamics of spatial organization and virulence potential of polymicrobial biofilms, and how to translate discoveries into therapeutic applications. This position will offer opportunities to expand knowledge and gain experience in cutting-edge microscopy/imaging analyses, in vivo models, spatial-omics techniques, and to engage in inter-school collaborations.
QualificationsCandidates for this position should hold a PhD with a strong background in genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, or related fields. Expertise in spatial omics (e.g., spatial transcriptomics and genomics) and advanced microscopy is desirable. We also welcome applicants with experience in non-oral microbiome systems. The applicant should be highly motivated with excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively within a diverse and inclusive research team.

The University of Pennsylvania is an equal opportunity employer, committed to inclusivity and nondiscrimination based on race, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, national or ethnic origin, disability, or veteran status.
