Post-doctoral researcher in the field of health economics or health services research (joint position with CERGE-EI and IOCB)

Masaryk University, the Faculty of Economics and Administration, is looking for a highly motivated and productive junior post-doctoral researcher in the field of health economics. Areas of particular interest include disease modelling, outcomes research, pharmacoeconomics, econometrics and health services research (incl. areas of preparedness, prevention, response and resilience to emerging health threats).

Excellent background in the latest empirical methods, as well as a desire to apply economic research to policy questions is expected. The candidate should be an independent researcher with a promising research agenda in the field of health economics or health services research. The postdoc’s primary responsibility is to conduct cutting-edge research in health economics.

This position is sponsored by the Platform for Biomedical and Economic Research, a research partnership of the Faculty of Economics and Administration of Masaryk University (ECON MUNI), the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCB) of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education – Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) of the Czech Academy of Science and Charles University.

The position will be based in Brno and may require occasional travel to Prague.

We are looking for:

  • a full-time post-doctoral researcher (candidate with academic title PhD in health economics, health policy, health services research or similar),
  • research interest in one or multiple topics in health economics,
  • excellent background in research methods,
  • previous research should be demonstrated by a publication potential in leading scientific journals,
  • active participation in international research conferences, presentation of research results at such conferences and other professional encounters abroad.

Members of the faculty have published in journals such as Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Urban Economics, Journal of Economic Behaviour and Organization, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Scientific Reports. The administrative staff is experienced in helping researchers with both national and international grant applications.

The Platform for Biomedical and Economic Research is a research collaboration aiming to promote activities involving scientific cooperation between natural and social scientists in the Czech Republic. The Platform is based in both Prague and Brno, Czech Republic, allowing primary residence in either of the two cities.
