Position as Researcher without a Phd (100 %) is available at Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Department of Nutrition, Research group of Public Health Nutrition.

The position is for a period of 18 months. Starting date no later than 01.01.2024.

More about the position

The position will be full time on the EU-funded project Obesity: Biological, socioCultural, and environmental risk Trajectories (OBCT) which is due to start November 1st 2023, and is coordinated by Stichting VUmc, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. OBCT aims to provide health professionals, researchers, policymakers and the public with knowledge, maps and tools to support sustainable prevention of obesity, with a particular focus on reducing risk in low-socioeconomic position communities. The 12 partners thus represent both academia from 7 countries, as well as pan European obesity-related organizations.

The research group in Public Health Nutrition at University of Oslo, will be leading work package 4 “Making policies work”. The work package takes a whole-of-community and systems approach to implementation and evaluation of obesity-reducing policies which are equitable. In task 3 within this work package, the aim is to develop and evaluate tools to facilitate policy implementation.

The person employed in this position will thus be responsible for:

  • Developing a valid and reliable tool for measuring community readiness for taking on obesity actions.
  • Supporting the process of co-developing tools to facilitate the adaptation and implementation of national policy recommendations and guidelines for obesity prevention into action in the municipalities.

Qualification requirements

Applicants must:

  • Hold a master degree equivalent to a Norwegian master degree in nutrition, public health or political sciences
  • Have previous research experience in policy-based obesity prevention
  • Have fluent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Be living or willing and able to relocate to Oslo

The following qualifications will count favourably in the assessment of the applicants:

  • Previous work experience in EU-funded research projects
