The USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Southern California (USC Norris) was founded in 1971 and has been continuously funded as an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center since 1973. USC Norris has a rich tradition of collaborative research and serves as a major regional and national resource for cancer research, prevention, treatment, and education.
USC Norris members have more than $100M in annual cancer research funding. The Research Administration Team is responsible for submitting new grants on behalf of the members and for the entire pre-award grants management process at USC Norris. We are seeking an experienced Associate Research Administrator (ARA) to join this team. Under the direction of the USC Norris Senior Research Administrator, the ARA will be responsible for preparing complex research funding proposals according to USC and sponsored research guidelines. The ARA will collaborate with principal investigators, external sponsor representatives, USC Norris administrators, KSOM administrators, and the USC Office of Sponsored Research. The ARA will develop, prepare, revise, and finalize project budgets, and provide budget justifications. In addition, the ARA is responsible for serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and interpreting complex University and government policies. The ARA will also collect data and run reporting requirements to manage data tables for federal sponsors using specific data programs and is also expected to help Identify and implement process improvements.

The hourly rate range for this position is $39.81– $48.72. Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 3 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Basic knowledge of governmental regulations. Strong accounting skills. Competency in project management. A Bachelor’s Degree with broad knowledge of relevant research computer software, e.g.: Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Outlook, SPSS, Visio, and SunGard. Experience in creating and analyzing statistical reports. Must be able to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records and generate reports. Proven oral and written communication skills to interact with other employees.
