About the team

The Genetic Epidemiology Group is home to a multidisciplinary team of statisticians and epidemiologists who collaborate with other medical researchers to determine the genetic, epigenetic and environmental contributions to risk of common disease. We have a major focus on translating this information into public health practice, including diagnostic tools and risk prediction models.

About the opportunity

This position contributes to epidemiological studies investigating risk of chronic disease and improving health through dissemination of knowledge to both the scientific community and the public. Reporting to Associate Professor Jennifer Stone, Principal Research Fellow, this position involves qualitative research methods and significant stakeholder engagement for a diverse programme of epidemiological research relating to chronic diseases specific to women.

About you 

The successful appointee should demonstrate successful conduct of qualitative research in a health setting and leadership potential to coordinate a national qualitative research project regarding chronic diseases specific to women. 

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • PhD or Masters degree in public health, epidemiology, health sciences or relevant field
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct qualitative research methods in public health setting, including data analysis
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills including qualitative data analysis software programs, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively as part of a team
  • Highly developed written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Relevant research experience at an appropriate level
  • Experience in consumer engagement
  • Proven ability in the preparation, presentation and publication of research results is desirable
