PhD-Doctoral position (100%) in Natural Product Research (Pharmaceutical Biology), University of Basel, Switzerland, Europe

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Basel is an Academic Drug Discovery & Development Center, which comprehensively covers academic drug research throughout pre-clinical and clinical research phases. The Pharmaceutical Biology Group (Head Prof. Robin Teufel) within the Department is searching for a PhD student with interest and ideally experience in natural product research.

Your position

As a PhD student, you will be involved in cooperative projects aiming at the discovery of new natural product lead compounds from plant and fungal extracts. A focus will be on the isolation and structural characterization of substances with promising activity against glioblastoma brain cancer. Besides your own project, you will furthermore assist master students and be involved in teaching activities. The place of work is at the Pharmazentrum in Basel.

Your profile

We are looking for candidates with a master degree in pharmacy, biochemistry or chemistry and a strong interest in analytical techniques.  Experience in natural product analysis (LCMS, NMR etc.) would be advantageous. Fluency in English (C2 level) is required.
