Job description

The division of Biophysics is located at SciLifeLab, where the team develops some of the world’s most used tools for modelling biological systems with particular applications to membrane proteins and techniques for drug design.
We are looking for a postdoc to work on molecular dynamics simulations to study biophysical phenomena, in particular related to development of the computer software GROMACS. The position includes development of new methods for managing, and analysing, simulations, as well as to develop applications, in particular in the field of handling and exchanging large data sets. The work may also encompass managing biomolecular force fields. The tasks will include programming in C++, but also applied research and good opportunities to contribute to scientific publications that tend to have very large academic impact. Much of the work is performed in close collaboration with other research groups throughout Europe.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Research expertise in biophysics, especially molecular dynamics simulations.
  • Experience in programming.
  • The work requires excellent command of written and spoken English, since English is used on daily basis. 
  • You are goal and result oriented.
  • You co-operate well.
  • You work well independently.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Experience from programming in C++
  • Experience from distributed software development, such as code reviewing and version management systems, is meritorious.
  • Good pedagogic skills are desirable.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues with specific focus on gender equality.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
