Deakin’s Faculty of Health is recognised in Australia and internationally for its teaching, training, research, and service to its communities. Working in the School of Health and Social Development, the Senior Lecturer will lead a range of innovative and responsive teaching and research activities focused on the first-year experience.
The School offers undergraduate courses in social work, occupational therapy, public health, health promotion, health, nature and sustainability, and health sciences. The appointee will promote the School and maintain links and partnerships with relevant academic, industry and professional communities.
As a Senior Lecturer you will:
- Provide an excellent contribution to the School’s teaching and research programs
- Exhibit and/or publish high quality research in national journals of high repute
- Contribute to leadership which enhances the achievement of Deakin’s strategic goals in teaching, research, engagement and innovation
- Enhance the quality of teaching and learning, including identifying and responding to opportunities to advance the discipline
- Contribute strongly to the leadership of the School, Faculty and University
- Develop strong relationships with research, community, industry and government for enhanced teaching and research outcomes
- Provide leadership in teaching and learning through roles such as Course Director or Unit Chair of high enrolling courses or units
- Contribute to the development of the School’s research agenda, including in competitive external research funding activities and performance in ERA
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A passion for teaching and research activities focused on the first-year student experience that influences, motivates, and inspires students to learn
- PhD in a health discipline and/or advanced qualifications and experience in the relevant discipline area
- Established record of excellence and innovation in teaching across multiple delivery platforms
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to relate to students of diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design and research supervision
- Nationally recognised research reputation underpinned by publications in quality journals and/or exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research grants
- Positive engagement with research, community, industry and government to enhance the national standing of the discipline
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
