An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate join the School of Art, Media & American Studies to work on a project that aims to allow media archives to be more effective in identifying, researching and preparing accurate catalogue metadata for women filmmakers. The focus of new project is to offer a practical application and assessment of a new archive toolkit and advocate for its broad uptake within the sector.
As a Senior Research Associate, your work on the project will include working with project team members to plan, develop and deliver training for both specific archives and larger sectoral training initiatives. You will also be responsible for maintaining existing (and establishing new) project relationships with archive staff; measuring the impact of training; and contributing to collaborative project team work on the website, conference papers, and publications.
UK travel to archives and training sites will be required as part of this role. Some international travel may be necessary.
You will have a postgraduate level qualification, equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant research area. You will also have experience of independent research, have publications in respected journals or equivalent within the field and be able to work in a proactive and results driven manner in a high paced environment. You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret data and work effectively as part of a team. Advanced skills and knowledge of media archive practice are also essential to this role.
This part-time (0.48 FTE) post is available from 1 February 2024 on a fixed term basis for 9 months.
